Having a Turkish tea or coffee after your airport pick up it’s a great way to know each other before starting an amazing experience together. Antakya Old City Center will be enjoying us today with a short walk followed by a nice and cozy dinner in a restaurant from the city center.
Our first visiting day will start in Hatay Archeology Museum. This museum became the world largest mosaic museum as per the latest discoveries. The stories are starting from Homo sapiens through all periods until Islamic times. You will discover here beautiful mosaic collections dating from Roman Empire or Hittites artifacts and stunning tombs from ancient periods.
As Hatay is considered a city of religious tolerance is worth to mention that the place where St Peter first preached about Christianity is here in Antakya and you will get the chance to visit this place called today St Peter Church.
Because we know you are curious about gastronomy our first foodie cooking class will be held today in Antakya – a meze cooking class. You will get the change to understand all influences that can be found in Hatay’s gastronomy and see if you can cook as good as a Turkish old lady.
Just to finish the day in a relaxing way dinner will take place in Dafne waterfalls.
Nature, exploring and homemade food are the words of today. We will start with a breakfast outside the hotel in the middle of the nature, continued by a visit to St Simeon Church that will offer us not only impressive ruins but also breathtaking landscapes.
Vafliki village, the single Armenian village left in Turkey is a perfect place to have a delicious local lunch and buy some homemade produced goods, no real foodie should miss this. So we can better understand this small community of Armenians we will have the opportunity to prepare our homemade jam together with a local family.
Tree of Moses, a thousand years legend of this places, will also wait for us in the middle of the village. The legend says that if you drink the water that falls near the tree you will live forever.
One more stop today as we will visit Vespasianus Titus Tunnel, build in the first century during Vespasian, Titus and Antoninus Pius ages, a tunnel that can deviate water even nowadays due to its well preservation.
For dinner we will remain near the sea, in Samadag, to enjoy a nice sunset and local fish dishes.
Famous for its balloon rides Cappadocia is to be discovered today. After a not so long ride we will have lunch in Cappadocia and a relaxing afternoon in the city. Trying traditional costumes in the bazaar and a nice wine tasting during the evening will close our first day in Cappadocia.
Even though a little too early we will start our day before sunrise. You will be able to choose how to enjoy the beginning of the day, either by having a balloon ride over Cappadocia either by having your coffee and a terrace watching the colorful view of dozens of balloons while the sun will make its appearance.
All happy and delighted by our sunrise, we will spend 6 hours in a guided tour in Cappadocia. Kaymakli Underground City one if the most famous in the area will be waiting us with historical stories and Goreme open air museum will surprise us with amazing views.
Today we will head to Gaziantep, a well known city for its dishes and especially deserts. First introduction into this foodie world we will be held in Gaziantep Gastronomy Museum followed by a short visit of the local bazar.
During the dinner we will probably understand more why UNESCO recognized this region for its food.
After a nice breakfast we will have a relaxing ride onto Euphrates River. We will be back in the city just in time for another cooking class, carefully supervised by a local chef.
To make sure you will gained also knowledge and not only kilograms we will next visit the second largest mosaic museum in the world, Zeugma Mosaic Museum, where we will find a lot about the begging of this civilization. During the evening we will enjoy Gaziantep castle and a nice and cozy dinner.
Antakya is waiting for us back today as there is still Habbibi Neccar mosque to be seen – first mosque in Anatolia and you can’t leave Turkey without tasting the famous and delicious Kunefe. In the afternoon you will enjoy some free time or optional activities like visit an olive oil soap factory, relax in a SPA or spend some time hiking the hills of Antakya.
You have now experienced Turkey at its best, knowing more about history and also gastronomy so today we just want to hear your impressions by having a last Turkish tea or coffee before airport transfer.
